How to make Washington D.C. take responsibility for its failed immigration policies

Governor Greg Abbott has a plan to hit Washington, D.C., where it hurts the most.

It’s obvious that most of the politicians and staffers in our nation's capital are chiefly concerned with preserving their own careers, comforts and the many perks that accompany membership in the exclusive club of elite haut monde.

Between back-scratching and cocktail parties in their fancy homes, they have little time for the “dirty” problems of Middle America, having become completely disconnected from the real world.

How then do we get their attention?

Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has a solution.

When it comes to the southern border crisis–manufactured almost entirely by President Joe Biden’s terrible immigration policies–our elected officials have shown particular indifference.

Conveniently, Biden himself is quite removed from the entire situation. He and most of his colleagues suffer little discomfort over the steady pour of illegal immigrants, criminals and drugs into our country.

But Governor Abbott has a plan to change all of that. According to The Daily Wire, “Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott, who has sent busloads of illegal immigrants to Washington D.C. in order to relieve the burden on local communities in his state, said he is willing to flood Washington D.C. with ten times the previous number of buses in order to awaken Washington D.C. to the stress border states are facing.”

By sending the consequences of a failed policy to those who made the policy, Abbott is not only doing what is best for the everyday Americans in Texas’ border counties, he is also giving the ruling class in D.C. a taste of what it feels like to live under their reckless border management.

Of course, not all problems are Washington’s to fix. But if Biden and his elite friends choose to give an open invitation across the border, they should be more than happy to welcome those who accept into their own “kingdom.”

After all, it doesn’t make sense that this decision should be made at the expense of conservative states, especially when conservative states are completely opposed to the decision being made.

But, up until now, at least, Biden never seemed to care.

Abbott explained that neither the President nor the “czar for the border, Kamala Harris,” have ever “once tried” to contact him. “They have no interest in talking to Texas or talking to leaders who are actually on the border,” he added. “Remember Joe Biden himself has never even been to the border.”

Hopefully this move towards holding D.C. responsible for its decisions is effective in reminding our political “betters” who’s actually in charge in this country. But no matter what happens, this much is clear: Washington is out of touch.

That’s why we so desperately need Convention of States.

Most career politicians are untouched by the problems that affect us on a daily basis-even if they themselves created the problems.

By using Article V to foist term limits and other controls on the federal government’s power, we can make certain that our elected officials are not focused on protecting their money-making careers or staying in power, but on actually doing what is best for the common good of this country.
