We have great news from The Aloha State.
Last week the Convention of States team in Hawaii filed the Convention of States application in the state legislature!
The best part? Both Republicans and Democrats signed on to the measure
In the state senate, SCR 89 was filed by Senators Gabbard, Harimoto, Inouye, and Riviere and is pending in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
In the state house, HCR 131 was filed by Representatives Kong, Cabanilla Arakawa, Cachola, Decoite, Okimoto, Say, Yamane, Aquino, Brower, McDermott, and Mizuno. It's pending in the House Judiciary Committee.
The Convention of States team in Hawaii has been faithfully visiting their state legislators for weeks, and their hard work paid off. This is a huge victory, and we're excited to see how our volunteers and legislative allies will push the resolution through the legislature.
The Convention of States Resolution (or "application") has been passed by 15 of the 34 states necessary to call a Convention of States. It calls for amendments that limit the power of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, and limit the terms of office for federal officials.
