Published in Blog on December 13, 2022 by Mark Kenneth White

In a rare and special state leaders webinar on December 8th, Hawai'i State Director Mark White presented the highly coveted COS Challenge Coin to Brett Kulbis, Hawai'i Grassroots Coordinator.

Brett has been an integral part of the Hawai'i team since 2016 and is well-deserving of this long overdue recognition for his contribution to COS. Here are just some:

  • Recruited thousands of petition signers annually at gun shows, shooting fairs, rally events, church & community meetings and political party conventions.
  • Primary advisor to Hawai'i team for legislation and legislator outreach.
  • Led Hawai'i team in development and implementation of COSAction App and local TelePatriot mission successes gaining 30% more event participation.
  • Indispensable leadership in reaching out and on-boarding new volunteers at various levels, expanding Hawai'i team by 23%.
  • Put together a Hawai'i-centric 12 Days of Activism program for 2022 directly preparing team members for the 2023 legislative session.
  • Confident leader serving as counselor and mentor for all supporters.

"I'm honored to receive this recognition. I attribute my successes to my 26-year Navy career and experiences as a Navy Chief, and the unwavering support of all our grassroots volunteers who do the hard work that makes my job easy and enjoyable." Brett Kulbis

The Challenge Coin

Challenge Coins are uniquely made by various organizations and are given to show respect, honor, and appreciation for services rendered to the organization.

The COS Challenge Coin bears the image of Col. George Mason, the Virginia delegate to the 1787 Convention who is credited with putting Convention of States into Article V of the U.S. Constitution. His words "Amendments therefore will be necessary..." are also enscribed on the coin. The other side includes the COS emblem and the words "All power is vested and consequently derived from the people."

Convention of States minted 300 exclusive Challenge Coins and then destroyed the mold. It is truly an honor to receive one of the COS Challenge Coins.
