Hawaii's 2018 session starts January 17, and our Convention of States Hawaii team will be there! Join us at the capitol from 10am to 1pm and meet our sponsors!
Preparing for the next legislative session is criticle in the Aloha State, and the Convention of States Hawaii team is working it months ahead of time. From finding committed sponsors to filling key leadership positions in our grassroots army, preparations are underway in key areas.
Grassroots Activation
The COS Hawaii team has been busy meeting and recruiting petition signers from local groups, guns shows, outdoor fairs, and town hall events.
Over the past 12 months our supporter list has doubled to now over 2,500 in the Aloha State. That's more supporters per capita in Hawaii than many mainland states!
A short term goal set for the team is to gain 10 new petition signers for each District Captain, with at least three of those being new volunteers.
Legislative Sponsoship
Hawaii's team has committments from prime sponsors in both the state's House and Senate, but we're not stopping there! This year six State Senators and 10 State Representatives sponsored our COS resolution.
State Director Mark White issued a challenge for his team to meet with at least 26 legislators before session starts Jaunary 17. That's 10 more than the 16 that sponsored in 2017. We've already meet with ten, so 16 more to go!
Building A Leadership Team
No state team is successful without dedicated leaders at every level. From the core District Captain position to state leadership roles, Hawaii's team is working to fill a wide range of vacant volunteer jobs.
Opportunities abound for different talents and interests, including yours. Convention of States Senior Advisor Dr. Tom Coburn's visit in October sparked renewed interest. Two more state level jobs were recently filled, but many others need your help. And as always, we can't have too many District Captains.
