On June 6th, we commemorate the 81st anniversary of D-Day, the historic Allied invasion of Normandy in 1944 that became a pivotal turning point in World War II. Over 156,000 troops, supported by thousands of ships and aircraft, stormed the beaches to confront Nazi oppression, showcasing extraordinary sacrifice, unity, and strategic planning. We honor the courage of those who fought to restore freedom and serve as a reminder of the enduring power of united action in defense of liberty.
The Convention of States (COS) Project, while distinct in its peaceful, civic approach, draws inspiration from D-Day’s legacy. By invoking Article V of the U.S. Constitution to propose amendments, COS seeks to restore constitutional accountability.
Both D-Day and the COS movement illustrate the transformative power of united action. On the beaches of Normandy, soldiers from Allied nations united to reclaim liberty from tyranny, reshaping the trajectory of the 20th century. Similarly, the COS movement unites and mobilizes citizens, state legislators, and grassroots organizations to propose constitutional reforms, aiming to preserve the principles of limited government and individual rights for future generations. Each effort, though distinct in scope and method, underscores the impact of determined individuals and communities working together to shape history.
While D-Day stands as an enduring testament to the triumph of freedom over tyranny and reshaped the course of world history, the COS movement represents another chapter in the ongoing fight to preserve and restore our foundational liberties. Although the outcome of our efforts are still unfolding, our pursuit of constitutional reform through Article V is a direct expression of the American tradition of civic engagement and the people’s right to hold their government accountable. Just as D-Day united individuals in a common cause for liberty, the COS movement brings us together across the nation, driven by the same aspiration: to defend and renew the principles of freedom and self-determination that are our God given rights and the bedrock of our Nation.
In the same way D-Day marked a turning point for freedom in 1944, the COS movement will be a turning point to hold Washington, D.C. accountable. With over two million petition signers and supporters, and 19 states already on board, we’re making history!
Please join us by signing the petition and help further our mission to restore constitutional principles and save America for future generations, like the greatest generation saved us from tyranny.
