Founding Fathers Day -- Where It All Began

Published in Blog on May 17, 2021 by Matt May

Massachusetts Convention of States director Michael Arnold cordially invites New England Convention of States teams and members of the United Cape Patriots (UCP) to "Founding Fathers Day," June 19, 2021, at the National Monument to the Forefathers in Plymouth, Massachusetts, beginning at noon.

Founding Fathers Day in Plymouth will feature inspirational speakers and fellowship that will reaffirm the principles of ordered liberty, equality under the law, and the Judeo-Christian ethic established by the signers of the Mayflower Compact on that very ground on November 11, 1620.

Scheduled speakers include Leo Martin, historian and Director of the Jenney Interpretive Center in Plymouth, William Wrestling Brewster, a tenth-generation ancestor of elder Pilgrim William Brewster, and UCP founder Adam Lange.

Martin, known as an excellent storyteller, historian, and "the last God-fearing guide in historic Plymouth," is the author of the book Pilgrim Pursuit of Happiness, which expounds upon the five liberties for which the Pilgrims were searching upon leaving England. Leo and his wife, Nancy, have traveled the nation educating groups about the Pilgrims and the founding of the United States.

Brewster is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire. In addition to his former duties at Chiltonville Congregational Church, he serves as moderator there, the only daughter church of the Pilgrims that preaches the Gospel. He will share his unique perspective of his ancestors, their beliefs and principles, and the gifts they bequeathed to liberty-minded peoples.

Lang is a recently-retired Boeing senior manager and aerospace operations expert. He will discuss teamwork and synergy among groups with shared interests and how they apply to COS and UCP. Lang specialized in team-leading and building in the development and implementation of the highly-regarded Lean Systems that improved performance and quality in the delivery of commercial and military aircraft.

Chiltonville Congregational pastor Sue Thornton will offer a blessing.

Please join us for an afternoon of reverence, reaffirmation, and re-dedication to the words of the Mayflower Compact, which read in part:

"We, whose names are underwritten...combine ourselves in a civic Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid; And by Virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions, and Offices, from time to time as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the General good of the Colony, unto which we promise all due Submission and Obeidence."

Founding Fathers Day is planned to last for roughly two hours. Mass COS looks forward to welcoming you to Plymouth to celebrate our heritage and learn more about working together to activate an Article V Convention of States and return the Republic to its roots.
