The feds might not defend the liberty of the American people, but they certainly take care of their own.
The Obama administration is attempting to prevent former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from being deposed in a case connected with her private email server, Watchdog.org reports. Judicial Watch -- a conservative watchdog group -- is requesting the deposition, which the Department of Justice has called “wholly inappropriate” and “overboard and duplicative.” This is despite the fact that Judicial Watch has received a judge’s permission to move forward with their Freedom of Information Act case.
Collusion within the federal government is nothing new, but this story is inconsequential compared to what the Supreme Court has done to increase the power of Washington, D.C. The Courts have interpreted the Constitution to allow the feds to do, essentially, whatever they want. The limited jurisdiction the Founders imagined is almost totally destroyed, and there is only one way to restore it: an Article V Convention of States.
A Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that reverse 100+ years of judicial activism. These amendments can restore the Founders’ vision of a small, limited national government, returning power to the states and the people.
Change will never come from D.C. because federal officials have no interest in decreasing their own power. The change our country needs will only come from the people -- acting through their state legislatures -- via an Article V Convention of States.
