Dr. Anthony Fauci: Feds bungled COVID-19 testing rollout, private industry saved the day

Published in Blog on March 27, 2020 by Article V Patriot

This comes as no surprise to Convention of States volunteers, but now the world is waking up to the fact that private industry is always more efficient and effective than government programs.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious diseases expert, explained yesterday during an Instagram live interview with NBA player Steph Curry that the private sector saved the federal government after the feds bungled the rollout of COVID-19 testing.

“We have hundreds of thousands of tests that are out there now, mostly because we got the private sector involved, of the companies who know how to make it well, make large amounts,” Dr. Fauci told Curry.

Later in the interview, Curry asked Dr. Fauci, “What are the things inhibiting those [the tests] being accessible to the masses?”

“Well, there should be nothing now that’s inhibiting it,” Fauci responded. “But originally, the system, the way it was set up, Steph, was not geared to this kind of massive capability of instantaneously, safely getting a test, getting it done in a really good period of time – not days and days, but hours.”

“Right now, the system is changed, predominately because it’s being handed over to the commercial firms who know how to do it,” the doctor continued. “It started off as a public health measure from the CDC, it now needs to be, and is being handed of to, the commercial group.”

Federal programs and agencies are wasteful, inefficient, and, in this case, may have cost American lives. There is a place for federal bureaucrats, but that place should be extremely limited. Those who wish to expand federal power by nationalizing healthcare or higher education would do well to remember that in this crisis, the private sector picked up where the federal government collapsed.

We need a firewall against big-government socialism, and we can put one in place with an Article V Convention of States.

A Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that forever limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of federal agencies. These amendments can keep the feds in their constitutional box and ensure that they stop trying to control areas of American life that are better left to private citizens.

Fifteen states and millions of Americans are already on board. Sign the Convention of States petition below to join the movement!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
