The Senate confirmed former Arkansas governor and COS endorser Mike Huckabee as President Donald Trump’s Ambassador to Israel on Wednesday, growing the list of Article V supporters in the administration. Senator John Fetterman joined the Republicans as the sole Democrat to vote for Huckabee.
The former presidential candidate has been an outspoken supporter of Convention of States for many years. “The Framers gave us a structure to allow the states to unilaterally impose proper controls on the federal government when it overruns the boundaries they had established,” he said in his official endorsement statement. “Article V allows for a Convention of States for this very purpose. The states can meet in official session to draft amendments to the Constitution that require fiscal restraint and other limitations on federal power.”
In 2021, Huckabee reiterated his support on an episode of his popular television talk show.

Later that year, Convention of States President Mark Meckler provided an update on the movement on Huckabee’s show.
As an ordained Baptist minister, Huckabee has earned praise for his unwavering support of Israel, which he views as holding a biblical “title deed” to its land.
“He’s gonna be a great ambassador to Israel …. He’s gonna be fantastic,” Trump said on Wednesday. “He’s gonna bring home the bacon — even though bacon isn’t too big in Israel.”
