Come meet the team-Joshua Skinner!

Published in Blog on June 01, 2022 by Carol Petrusewicz

Hello, my name is Joshua Skinner, and I am your Veterans Coalition Director for SD-NH 6 and HD-NH Strafford 2. I live in Farmington currently but was born in Portsmouth and grew up in the Tri-City area.

I have always had an affinity for the origins of our great country. Growing up, I reveled in learning about our history and how our brave ancestors took a stand against the monarchy. This tyrannical entity insisted on dominance and servitude from half a world away. Against all odds, these men knew the results if they failed in their endeavor, yet they willingly chose to sacrifice their fortunes, their lands, their families, and inevitably their lives just to pursue this idea.

This same love that I had cultivated for country and freedom led me to join the army at 18 years old. I was a Paratrooper with the 82ND Airborne and deployed in support of operation "enduring freedom." I served six years honorably.

Since leaving the army, I went on to pursue a higher education and live my life the best I could. But as the years progressed, I started to feel like a stranger in my own country, a country that I fought to defend. The moral values and ethics that have been instilled in me as an American boy are now being turned upside down and inside out. The corruption is rampant; the crime and moral decay is just something I can no longer bear.

I have come to realize that whatever powers that be that are responsible for this chaos and insanity don’t have the people nor this great country in their best interest. In fact, it seems that whoever is pulling the strings is dead set on destroying this country from within deliberately. It’s as if our top leadership and elected officials have been corrupted and paid off to stand down, obstruct justice, and allow the rape of our country to commence.

Why do I believe in the Convention of States movement?

Benjamin Franklin walked out of Independence Hall after the 1787 Constitutional Convention and was asked: “What do we got? A republic or a monarchy?”

Benjamin replied, “A republic if you can keep it."

Article V was specifically instituted because our founding fathers foresaw that this day may come and that we would have to defend the republic once again. The government has absorbed too much power and has become corrupted and destructive towards the people's Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness.

The people have the right and the means within the Constitution to stop this madness, to put handcuffs on legislators, and stop the freight train that is this runaway rogue government. It gives us the ability to propose new amendments to the Constitution to take the power back and deliver it back into the hands of the people.

History shows us that when rights are taken, they are not given back. Our rights are being trampled and we will not get them back by asking nicely. We need to take them, but in the most peaceful manner possible. Article V gives us that peaceful solution and we need to do everything within our power to spread awareness of it and implement this while we still can.

I hope to connect with as many fellow veterans in New Hampshire as I can and build a community of volunteers to help spread this message to the masses. We all took an oath to the Constitution, and it was for life not just the duration of our service.

I’d like to set up events and meet-ups where we can engage both citizens and other veterans and talk about COS and Article V – also to get together and discuss and debate ideas. If you have a venue that would be an ideal location to do this, please let me know.

Please reach out to me  if you have any questions or ideas that you would like to contribute. Also, if you have any interest in volunteering, please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.
