"Build Back Better" would lower taxes for the blue-state rich while raising taxes for everyone else

Published in Blog on November 22, 2021 by Article V Patriot

President Biden's "Build Back Better" boondoggle passed the U.S. House last week and is set to pass the Senate soon. Moderate Democrats might propose a few amendments, but Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is confident he can hand the president a "transformative" legislative win.

If he does, his rich blue-state friends are set to benefit--while the rest of the middle class sends even more money to the federal government.

According to a recent report from our friends at The Daily Wire, Biden's legislation would hand a tax break to wealthy Americans in blue states while raising taxes on everyone else.

President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better legislation, which passed in the House on Friday, includes a multi-billion dollar tax cut for wealthy Americans in blue states while hitting a wide swath of the middle-class with a tax hike.

In total, the [state and local tax deduction] cap raise in Biden’s Build Back Better legislation is equivalent to a “$285 billion tax cut that would almost exclusively benefit high-income households over the next five years,” according to the Post.

At the same time, the social spending bill also targets the middle class, hiking taxes on 20% to 30% of households making less than $400,000 a year.

Biden and the Democrats have billed "Build Back Better" as a boon for the American people at the expense of the "wealthy." The reality is much different.

Members of Congress from both parties seek to help their friends and allies while forcing We the People to foot the bill. We've seen this during both Republican and Democratic administrations, and Americans all across the country are standing up to say, "Enough is enough!"

Over five million Americans have voiced support for the Convention of States Project, over two million have signed the Convention of States Petition, and 15 states have passed our Resolution.

These Americans and legislators understand that Article V of the Constitution empowers the people and the states to put the federal government back in its place. A Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that limit federal power and spending, and limit the terms of office for federal officials.

What would our country look like if our elected "leaders" in Washington could no longer control every area of American life? What would happen if we forced them to serve only two or three terms, and took away their unlimited power to tax and spend?

Amendments like these would benefit our country in many ways, but you can bet these politicians would be far more responsive to the will of everyday Americans. Their power to tax us would be significantly reduced, and their ability to reward allies and lobbyists would disappear overnight.

We the People shouldn't have to worry that the next President, Congress, or bill will transform their lives and invade their pocketbooks. If you agree, sign the Convention of States Petition below!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
