Build Back Better? Inflation hits near 40-year high under Biden's leadership

Published in Blog on December 10, 2021 by Article V Patriot

Here's the thing about the federal government: it's easy for them to send the country's economy spiraling in the wrong direction. It's much more difficult for them to correct course.

It's easy for them to pump money in the economy, scare Americans away from work, and threaten to close businesses with overreaching vaccine mandates.

But when those policies inevitably cause skyrocketing inflation, President Joe Biden and his cronies have no idea how to put the genie back in the bottle.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today that inflation rose 6.8 percent for the 12 months ending October, the largest 12-month increase since the period ending June 1982.

These numbers are drastically higher than "experts" predicted. Earlier this year, Biden's economic officials said inflation would be "transitory." It's been anything but.

Even Washington Post columnists are sounding the alarm:

This is what happens when the federal government meddles in the economy. Joe Biden should be presiding over one of the greatest economic recoveries in our country's history. With vaccines readily available and COVID hospitalizations and deaths falling, the country should be getting back to its pre-pandemic economic levels.

Instead, the Biden administration couldn't leave well enough alone. They sent billions of dollars directly to Americans (and promised them more). They encouraged Americans to stay home from work, and they spooked the markets with a national vaccine mandate.

Thanks to these policies, everyday Americans are paying more for groceries, gas, and other essentials -- just in time for the holidays!

In a sane world, the president would learn from his mistakes and adjust accordingly. But Washington, D.C., isn't a sane place. Biden is just as likely to double down on his failed policies as he is to correct course, which is yet another reason the people and the states need to call a Convention of States.

A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can limit the power and spending of the federal government, which will drastically reduce Washington's ability to meddle in the economy.

Without the authority to control our business decisions or the money to compel us to act, Washington will have no choice but to step back and let Americans do what they do best: solve our nation's problems with innovation and efficiency.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
