Brett's Blog: Monday, September 26, 2022 - Brush Fires of Liberty

Published in Blog on September 24, 2022 by Brett Sterley, State Director, Convention of States Missouri

One of the most rewarding aspects of volunteering for the Convention of States Project is the ability to fellowship together. We have these opportunities in person, through teleconference calls, phone calls, e-mails and text messages. From time to time, we hold regional and national events.

One such national event was our National Leadership Conference in Historical Williamsburg. VA in 2019. Nearly 400 Convention of States Project (COSP) volunteers from across the country gathered to hear from speakers like: COSP co-founder Mark Meckler, Dr. Tom Coburn, Fox News’ Pete Hegseth, David Barton and “The Great One” Mark Levin. It was a privilege to learn from these great thought leaders. The information they shared through their presentations provided an historical perspective and helped realize the impact of our efforts. We learned best practices in our breakout sessions helping us to be better servant leaders.

As great as these experiences were, they paled in comparison to conversations and informal meetings we had with each other. This is where the magic happened. The ability to speak with those whom we only knew from the shoulders up on conference calls were the precious moments. Learning about our fellow team members from across the country on a personal level was so special. The Convention of States Project is more than a political, volunteer organization. We are a family.

In a couple weeks, over 600 volunteers will gather again in Orlando, FL. Our speaker roster is even more robust than our 2019 meeting. We are grateful to have these unique opportunities to learn from nationally-known speakers. The most endearing conversations will occur in the hallways, courtyards and lounges among our COSP family. This is what we are looking most forward to.

As in 2019, much of the event will be livestreamed. Linked below is a video of the highlights of the 2019 Summit. We will also be livestreaming the 2022 Leadership Conference. Watch for more details as this will be a tremendous leaning experience whether attending in-person or remotely. We hope you enjoy this event.

In liberty,

Brett
