By my public educated math skills that is a total of 57 candidates running for federal offices and 92 candidates running for statewide offices. From the volume of commercials, door knockers and mailers filling up our mailboxes, this may seem like a low number!
The candidates have a full court press in their campaign operations through August 6th. Millions will be spent in this primary election cycle to choose which party’s candidate will be on the November 5th General Election ballot. The primary is where the winner of the General Election will most likely be decided.
Every Republican is a conservative and finds Jesus around election time.
You should be able download a sample ballot from your County Clerk’s Office. I encourage you to do your own homework on races in your area. As a non-partisan, political organization, Convention of States Action does not endorse candidates. Lean on your friends or family who are plugged into the political process for information. Several organizations provide voter guides with candidate platforms and recommendations.
We are blessed in the United States to be able to elect our government officials. It is important we do not take this privilege lightly. We emphasize the importance of being a self-governing citizen. Voting is a basic element of our responsibility. Early voting is available now.
Plan to vote before you go to work. Vote with friends then go out to breakfast afterward. Carpool to your polling location. Make an event out of your civic duty. We should celebrate the privilege we enjoy as citizens of a free country. If supporters of Convention of States Action get to the polls and vote, we can sway elections and impact public policy.
In liberty,
Brett
