2022 was a tremendous year for the Convention of States Project. We saw new states pass our resolution. In other states, we advanced through committee hearings and floor votes in a single chamber. Our base of supporters surpassed 5.5 million liberty-loving patriots. Our volunteers participated in ‘Get Out the Vote’ efforts for hundreds of elected offices, making more than 125,000 contacts in the 2022 Midterms alone. The Convention of States Project was the subject of thousands of stories in the news media.
In short, we are making a difference in local and national politics. This video captures some of the highlights of 2022.
And yet, as exciting as 2022 was, this year is going to be even more so. Missouri is a Passed State, but our work is far from over. We’ve introduced legislation in the Missouri Legislature to establish the process our Legislature will use to select commissioners to represent Missouri at any Article V convention of states meeting. I expect that legislation will pass this session. We want to have input in who exactly those commissioners will be. Maybe you'll be one of those commissioners! And, when we pass our 34th state and a convention of states meeting is called, we want to make sure the proposed amendments are as robust and effective as possible. This does not happen without a massive team of self-governing citizen activists.
So this is where you come in. YOU have the ability to restore liberty. YOU have the ability to defend our Constitution. YOU were given the obligation to be a self-governing citizen and the authority by George Washington, James Madison, George Mason and the other 55 delegates to the 1787 Philadelphia Convention where our Constitution was drafted. This was their expectation of us. The Framers knew the Constitution is only words on paper unless We The People jealously protected it. I don’t know about you, but I do not want to disappoint them or the thousands of patriots who’ve died to defend our republic.
The 102nd Legislative Session begins in Jefferson City this Wednesday. There will be more than 60 new legislators sworn in. The new legislative districts drawn last year will take effect. Perhaps yours is one of those new districts, or you have a new legislator. Whether a new or incumbent legislator, an unchanged or redrawn district, it is our responsibility to be involved in the political process. We must be the watchful eye to ensure good public policy is adopted in Missouri. We must be the support system when our legislator does the right thing, or takes the tough vote to advance liberty.
Be part of the movement that’s making history. Resolve to be a champion of the Constitution. Be a leader for liberty. Join your friends and family in the Convention of States Project today!
In liberty,
Brett
