Brett's Blog Archive: Monday, April 11, 2022 - The Reawakening

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” - John Adams

Adams’ statement was the sentiment of many of the Founding Fathers and The Framers of the Constitution. Additionally, a specific religion was not named in the Constitution or any of our founding documents because the original 13 colonies did not agree on a single religion. The colonists were an amalgamation of Puritans, Quakers, Catholics, Christians, Methodist and others. Each state was established largely along religious lines. They did, however, agree that faith in God was critical and a prerequisite of a civil society.

While the Constitution was written to limit the central government’s ability to infringe upon our individual rights, today’s secular regressive movement is diametrically opposed to our original republican form of government – and maintenance of civil society. (If you recall, I refuse to use the term ‘progressive’.) The only thing ‘progressive’ about this secular regressive ideology is the progress of the State. Secular regressivism first gained influence in our society by taking over the education of our children and attacking our faith. By decoupling truth and faith from our society we now are twisting in the wind and ripe for the picking.

We’ve seen the value of life diminished to a ‘choice.’ We’ve seen violent crime rates skyrocket, and theft and property damage crimes increase. The media promotes state-sponsored narratives instead of reporting facts. Pop culture glorifies the exploitation of women. And now, we have an incoming Supreme Court Justice who refuses to define what a woman is, or when a person ‘s constitutional rights begin.

Finally, we’re beginning to see pushback in the indoctrination of our children. Last November, the Convention of States Project conducted a Get out the Vote effort in the Houston, Texas Independent School District. The purpose was to make sure our COS supporters went to the polls and voted their values. The result was the election of pro-liberty candidates to the school board. Your Missouri team did the same in the Francis Howell School District and the Springfield Public Schools. Pro-liberty candidates were successful in their races as well. This was due to their hard work. Our grassroots efforts to get COS supporters to the polls also helped significantly.

“I had envisioned COS sparking a political reawakening. I did not expect COS to be the catalyst for a spiritual reawakening as well.” - Tim Dunn

The above quote was made in a conversation between Tim, Mark Meckler and me. The Convention of States Project is a political organization based upon Biblical principles – the same founding Biblical principles of our Constitution. Just as the original 13 colonies were motivated by the pursuit of religious freedom, today we must be motivated to restore our founding principles. The original 13 colonies differed in the daily practice of their religious beliefs but they were unified in purpose. Each of our current and future COS supporters have their individual motivations. We are unified in our purpose to defend the Constitution.

It is my firm belief that the most effective way for each of our supporters to realize their individual goals is through volunteering with the Convention of States Project. If you want more information on how you can fight back against the deterioration of our culture and return our country to its Founding Principles, please go to https://conventionofstates.com/take_action or e-mail me at brett.sterley@cosaction.com for more information.
