Senator Bernie Sanders may have dropped out of the Democratic presidential race, but that doesn't mean the socialist movement in the United States is going anywhere.
In his concession speech, Sanders made the surprise announcement that he still plans to stay on the ballot. His reason? To exert more influence at the Democratic National Convention.
"On a practical note, let me also say this: I will stay on the ballot in all remaining states and continue to gather delegates," Sanders said in a livestreamed address. "While Vice President Biden will be the nominee, we must continue working to assemble as many delegates as possible at the Democratic convention, where we will be able to exert significant influence over the party platform and other functions."
Sanders, in other words, would rather his supporters risk their lives going to the polls than concede his influential place in the party.
Americans worried about the rise of socialism can't let down their guard. The movement is as strong as ever, and we must remain vigilant if we want to end it once and for all.
While nothing can keep people from believing bad ideas, we can limit the influence of those people and ideas on the federal government. An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power and jurisdiction of Washington, D.C.
With these amendments in place, government takeover of healthcare, business, or industry will be virtually impossible. The federal government will be limited by clear, unavoidable constitutional provisions, and the socialist movement will be forever unable to fulfill their big-government dreams.
The Article V movement has spread from coast to coast. Fifteen states have called for a Convention of States, and Article V teams are active in all 50 states. To join yours, sign the petition below!
