Washington, D.C.'s priorities are in total contradiction to Founders' intentions for the federal government.
Case in point: while Trump and the Democrats have agreed on a budget deal for non-defense programs that would avoid spending cuts, the President hasn't constructed a single mile of new border fencing since his inauguration over three years ago.
Per Fox News:
The Trump administration has not installed a single mile of new wall in a previously fenceless part of the U.S.-Mexico border in the 30 months since President Trump assumed office, despite his campaign promise to construct a “big beautiful wall.”
In a statement last week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the federal agency overseeing border barrier construction, confirmed that all the fencing completed since Trump took office is "in place of dilapidated designs" because the existing fence was in need of replacement.
Let's get this straight. The feds can waste billions every year on domestic programs that are hurtling towards insolvency, but they can't manage to raise enough money to secure our southern border?
Unlike education or healthcare, national defense is something the Constitution specifically mentions as being under the purview of the national government. Article IV, Section IV, clearly states, "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion."
Whatever your stance on the immigration debate, building a fence/wall/barrier on our nation's borders is clearly something that D.C. should be doing if and when it's necessary.
Instead, the federal government is content to throw away the financial security of future generations by increasing the national debt to unsustainable levels and spending far beyond our revenue each year -- all for the sake of agencies and programs that can't be found in the Constitution.
We need a solution that will force the feds to follow the Constitution as it was originally intended by our Founders. As Rita Dunaway explained in a recent interview, D.C. has expanded its power by perverting the generalized language of the Constitution. With properly written constitutional amendments, we can clarify the limited role of the federal government and force them to do only those jobs the Constitution specifically mentions.
Congress will never propose such amendments, but the states can by calling an Article V Convention of States. A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose the constitutional amendments that D.C. never will. These amendments can restore the balance of power between the national and state governments, and put the feds back in the constitutional box.
