Democrats hiding Medicare-For-All Lite in $3.5 trillion spending bill

Published in Blog on October 15, 2021 by Article V Patriot

Hidden in the vastness of the Democrats' $3.5 trillion spending proposal is a little-reported plan to usher in a federal takeover of the healthcare industry.

Right now, Medicaid is controlled jointly by state and federal governments and is offered to low-income Americans. Biden's "Build Back Better" bill would create a new entirely federal program that would offer Medicaid-like services in states that have not elected to expand their own Medicaid programs.

It would force taxpayers in those states to pay for services they have not supported and pave the way for the federalization of the entire healthcare system.

As the Daily Signal reports, it's highly likely that the program will be expanded in the near future.

"This proposal not only would increase the number of Americans on government-run health care, but also expand the federal government’s role in delivering that care," the outlet writes. "Moreover, while the program seems narrowly focused, it is certainly reasonable to assume that it could be expanded and pave the way for a full-blown government takeover."

We can't let this happen. A federally run healthcare industry would destroy self-governance, reduce the quality of care, and disincentivize companies from producing lifesaving cancer and Alzheimer's treatments. It would put your healthcare under the control of federal bureaucrats, and quicken our descent into Bernie Sanders' socialist "utopia."

Congress can only consider the "Build Back Better" bill because the Supreme Court has given them almost unlimited jurisdiction over every area of American life. The Court is unlikely to rescind the last 100 years of precedent, and Congress is unlikely to propose the constitutional amendments that could reduce the size and scope of the federal government.

That's why over five million Americans have joined the Convention of States Project.

An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can reduce federal power, eliminate federal agencies, and clarify the Founders vision for a limited federal government.

With these amendments in place, Congress will be forbidden from legislating on healthcare, energy, the environment, and any other topic not expressly mentioned in the Constitution. That power will revert back to the states, where We the People have a real voice in government.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
